14 Beautifully Simple Steps to Hygge

If you are a Pinterest fan there is no way you can have missed the Hygge trend! So what is it? Is it still 'a thing'? And most important how do you Hygge?!

First of all, this Danish Norwegian concept is pronounced hue-guh not hoo-gah and it's used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out, as cosy, special or charming.

You can't buy a Hygge living room or lifestyle. Hygge only requires consciousness, a certain slowness, and the ability to not just be present, but recognise and enjoy the present. Live in the Now! That’s why so many people explain ‘Hygge’ as a ‘feeling’ – because if you don’t feel Hygge, you probably haven't understood it correctly.

In a nutshell, Hygge is all about being aware of a good moment.

So yes, it should always be 'a thing', always a part of your life if you want to appreciate and experience the benefits of living in the moment and appreciating the here and now.

How to do it?

Here are 14 easy and simple ways to Hygge.

1/ Bring the outside in with greenery

2/ Decorate your home without clutter and with meaningful objects

3/ Candles, candles, candles! And even more candles!

4/ Turn your phone off at night before sleep
